Racing history.
Vittorio Jano designed the 8C 2300 for Alfa Romeo as an answer to mounting competition. What he created was more than an answer: four consecutive Le Mans victories from 1931 to 1934, plus Mille Miglia successes and dominance on Europe's great long-distance circuits.
Scuderia Ferrari — then still Alfa Romeo's works team — raced the 8C with drivers including Tazio Nuvolari and Rudolf Caracciola. The car represented the apex of pre-war racing engineering: a straight-eight with supercharger, housed in a light, well-balanced chassis.
Of the fewer than 100 original examples built, most are held in permanent collections. Pur Sang builds the Monza variant using the same methods that produced the original.
What Pur Sang builds.
The Alfa Romeo 8C is the most technically complex car in the Pur Sang portfolio. Straight-eight with supercharger, a characteristically long bonnet that demands particular skill from the coachbuilder. The workshop makes all components in-house: engine block from the in-house foundry, the sweeping aluminium bodywork on the English wheel, gearbox and rear axle to original drawings. Every Monza reconstruction is an individual piece — configurable in colour, upholstery, and wheel specification.
